Djuuku, gorge. It is located south of the
village of Saruu. It slams more than 50 miles into the northern slopes of
Terskey Ala-Too ridge. At the front of the gorge are the red rocks. Spruce
grows for almost 30 miles along the slopes of the Tien-Shan. In the middle
of the gorge, the slopes compose the red-colored sandstone outputs. They
overlook the great glaciers and the main peak - It-Tash (4808 m). There are
many waterfalls and mountain lakes in the alpine zone. Kashka-Suu is a truly
amazing lake (Dzhuuku - the right inflow), it is 800m and 200m wide. It is
located at the centerline of Terskey Ala-Too, at an altitude of 3600 m. The
water comes out of it towards the Issyk-Kul lake, and towards side valleys
of the Tien-Shan.
Here, caravans travelled along the Silk Road, descending from the harsh Bedel
pass and moving on the alpine deserts-valleys, where the famous gold mine
“Kumtor” is located now. In the VII century, in the valley of river Dzhuuku
was a Nestorian-Christian settlement, which came from a distant Syria. The
Buddhists left their own mark as well, they engraved their eternal mantra
on a huge stone -"Om Mani Padme Hum". Sufferers and the ill, found salvation
in the healing springs of the right tributary of Dzhuuki-Dzhuukuchaka. In

some 45 m deep. Some 40,000 kW of power is generated by 4 turbines and
